Sony mod. TR-620 - Japan 1960 The TR-620 is a pocket radio with Medium Wave reception, a direct descendant of the TR-610, which it draws inspiration from in terms of design and technology. The circuit is a superheterodyne with 6 Sony germanium transistors: 2SC73, 2SC76, 2SC76, 2SD65, 2SD65, the frequency coverage ranges from 535 to 1605 KHz, and the intermediate frequency resonates at 455 KHz. Compared to the previous model, the 620 introduces the use of an aluminum door on the back to access the battery compartment, which is the classic 9 V for transistors (type 6F22). The dimensions of the radio are: 2.4 x 3.5 x 1 inch. As on the TR-610 and other Sony's products, and marketing the TR-620 in the U.S.A., the Japanese took care to insert on the radio's dial two red triangles corresponding to the two frequencies of the CONELRAD atomic warning system that had been adopted in the United States since the beginning of the Cold War with the U.S.S.R. Sony mod. TR-620 - Tokyo, Giappone 1960 La TR-620 è una radio tascabile con ricezione in Onde Medie diretta discendente della TR-610, alla quale si ispira per disegno e tecnologia. Il circuito è una supereterodina con 6 transistor al germanio della Sony: 2SC73, 2SC76, 2SC76, 2SD65, 2SD65, 2SD65, la copertura in frequenza va da 535 a 1605 KHz, e la Frequenza intermedia risuona a 455 KHz. Rispetto al precedente modello, la 620 introduce l'utilizzo di uno sportellino di alluminio sul retro per accedere al vano batteria, la quale è la classica 9 V per transistor (tipo 6F22). Le dimensioni della radio sono: 6 x 9 x 2,7 cm.  Come sul TR-610 e altri loro prodotti, e commercializzando la TR-620 negli U.S.A. i giapponesi ebbero cura di inserire sulla scala parlante della radio due triangolini rossi in corrispondenza delle due frequenze del sistema di allarme atomico CONELRAD che era stato adottato negli Stati Uniti sin dall'inizio della guerra fredda con l' U.S.S.R. Il TR-620 è stato la seconda generazione di "radio portatile da taschino" prodotta dalla Sony , il TR-620 è più piccolo del 610 e rappresentò il massimo di miniaturizzazione che si poteva ottenere con la tecnologia dell'epoca. © IK3HIA, 2004
