Minerva Picnic mod. 597/1 Soc. An. Ind. Luigi Dell'Aquila - Milano - Italia 1960. La Minerva 597/1, commercializzata a partire dal 1960, era l'erede della 577/1, era molto simile al modello precedente e utilizzava lo stesso circuito del tipo supereterodina. La radio copriva la banda delle Onde Medie, utilizzava 7 transistor al germanio della serie europea OC: OC44, OC45, OC45, OC71, OC71, OC72, OC72, due diodi OA79 e aveva la Media Frequenza a 470 kHz. L'esemplare di 597/1 visibile nelle foto ha il numero seriale 405716 e come nel modello precedente, la presa per un'antenna esterna o per quella dell'auto era sul pannello posteriore e si accoppiava induttivamente al circuito tramite una bobina con nucleo. Uno spezzone di filo collegava invece la presa di massa a una linguetta di ottone che si appoggiava alla massa del ricevitore. Questo sistema di antenna probabilmente andava bene nelle grandi città come Milano o Roma le quali ospitavano forti emittenti in Onde Medie che trasmettevano con molti kWatt di potenza tanto che bastava accendere la radio per ascoltare i programmi. Se ci si trovava in località remote, per riuscire ad ascoltare qualcosa bisognava collegare al Picnic un'antenna esterna e una presa di massa. La manopola della sintonia della 597/1 era demoltiplicata ed era collocata sulla parte destra del frontale mentre il controllo del volume con l'interruttore di accensione era sulla parte superiore sinistra del mobile. L'altoparlante era magnetodinamico e aveva il diametro di 10 cm. Il mobiletto in legno era ricoperto di finta pelle e dotato di maniglia per il trasporto. Nel pannello posteriore c'ereano la presa d'antenna in alto a sinistra e quella di massa al centro. L'alimentazione era fornita tramite cinque batterie da 1,5V tipo C (LR14). Nel pannello posteriore c'erano le istruzioni e una lampadina per effettuare il test delle batterie. Le dimensioni erano: 20x14,5x6,5 cm (L,A,P) e il peso era di 1,16 kg. The Minerva 597/1, marketed since 1960, was the heir to the 577/1, it was very similar to the previous model and used the same superheterodyne circuit. The radio covered the Medium Wave band, used 7 germanium transistors of the European OC series: OC44, OC45, OC45, OC71, OC71, OC72, OC72, two OA79 diodes and had the Intermediate Frequency at 470 kHz. The 597/1 shown in the photos has serial number 405716 and, like the previous model, the socket for an external or car antenna was on the rear panel and was inductively coupled to the circuit via a cored coil. A piece of wire connected the ground socket to a brass tab that rested on the receiver ground. This antenna system was probably fine in large cities like Milan or Rome which hosted strong Medium Wave stations that transmitted with many kWatts of power so that it was enough to turn on the radio to listen to the programs. If you were in remote locations, to be able to listen to something you had to connect an external antenna and a ground socket to the Picnic. The tuning knob of the 597/1 was geared down and was located on the right side of the front while the volume control with the on-off switch was on the upper left part of the cabinet. The speaker was magnetodynamic and had a diameter of 3.9 inches. The wooden cabinet was covered in fake leather and equipped with a handle for transport. On the rear panel there were the antenna socket on the top left and the ground socket in the center. Power was supplied by five 1.5V type C (LR14) batteries. On the back panel there were instructions and a battery test lamp. The dimensions were: 7.9 x 5.7 x 2.6 inch (W,H,D) and the weight was 2 lb 8.9 oz.
