Marvel Transistor 6 mod. 6YR-15A - Yokohama Tsoshin Kogyo Co., Ltd. - Japan 1960. The 6YR-15A is a small pocket radio with medium wave reception. The circuit is a superheterodyne with 6 germanium transistors and an antenna wound on a rectangular ferrite core. Power is supplied by a 9V transistor battery (6F22). The dimensions are similar to those of a pack of cigarettes as an advertisement from the sixties said: 2.3 x 3.5 x 1.1 inch (W,H,D). The blue Marvel copy doesn't look great but it still works great and I'm very fond of it because it was the first transistor radio my father bought and used for a long time in the early 60s. I remember that at the time the 6YR-15A was amazing for its miniaturized technology, its reception sensitivity and its strong sound reproduction, all features included in a radio of minimal dimensions. I recently bought the black 6YR-15A, it was working, complete with leather case and earphones. I completely disassembled the radio to clean it from the brownish dust that had turned into a small piece of foam rubber that had been glued into the battery compartment to prevent the 9V battery from moving. © IK3HIA, 2004.

Il circuito è una supereterodina con 6 transistor al germanio e antenna avvolta su un nucleo di ferrite rettangolare. L'alimentazione è fornita da una batteria tipo transistore da 9V (6F22). Le dimensioni sono simili a quelle di un pacchetto di sigarette come diceva una pubblicità degli anni sessanta: 5,8 x 9 x 2,7 cm (L,A,P). La copia di Marvel colore di azzurro non ha un bell'aspetto ma funziona tuttora egregiamente e le sono molto affezionato perché fu la prima radiolina a transistor acquistata e utilizzata a lungo da mio padre nei primi anni 60. Ricordo che a quei tempi la 6YR-15A destava meraviglia per la tecnologia miniaturizzata, per la sensibilità in ricezione e per la forte riproduzione sonora, tutte caratteristiche racchiuse in un apparecchietto radio delle dimensioni minime. L'esemplare nero di 6YR-15A invece l'ho acquistato recentemente, era funzionante, completa di custodia in pelle e di auricolare. Ho smontato completamente la radio per ripulirla dalla polvere marroncina in cui si era trasformato un pezzetto di gommapiuma che era stato incollato nel vano portabatteria per evitare che la pila da 9V si muovesse. © IK3HIA, 2004, 2023.
